Security queue notes for layout talks
What to measure before you argue for another lane or a different bag-tray layout.
Layout talks about security often jump to lane count. Planners who arrive with measured queue length, processing rate, and tray-return friction change the conversation.
Observe at least two peak banks and one quiet mid-morning. Record where passengers pause: document check, divestiture table, or reclaim. Each pause suggests a different physical fix.
If tray return is slow, adding a lane may only move the bottleneck. Photograph the reclaim surface and note staffing during your observation window.
Bring sketches, not slogans. A single annotated plan of the current footprint usually settles whether the next investment should be space, equipment, or procedure.
